To be honest, I haven't seen all of the movies and shows that are nominated for awards at tonight's Golden Globes. I'm sorry. For that reason, I feel like I can't give an all-encompassing preview. But what I can do is give you a small preview that includes the categories I have a clue about. To the blog!
Best Motion Picture, Best Actor (drama), Best Actor (comedy)
This could be the awards year that Ryan Gosling just goes off and wins for every category he's involved with. Best Actor for the Ides of March, which is also up for Best Motion Picture. Best Actor for Crazy, Stupid, Love. I had thought he might get the trifecta and get nominated for Drive too, but alas he did not. His supporting actor (Albert Brooks) did.
Best Motion Picture (comedy)
If Bridesmaids wins I'll fucking kill myself.
Best Animated Feature Film
Tintin has to take it. There's no way that Jackson-Spielberg don't win for their joint passion project.
Best TV Series (drama)
I'm very biased. American Horror Story and Game of Thrones are two of the best shows I've ever watched. But I know a lot of people watch and love Boardwalk Empire and Homeland. If I had to pick, I'd go with AHS. Just a whole new genre of television show: kind of creepy, very mysterious, definitely makes you think all season long and blows your mind. Can't be beaten. Combine that with Blue Mountain State and FX Wednesday was the best night of the week for three months.
Best TV Series (comedy)
I love Modern Family. Very heartwarming show. Award-worthy? Maybe. I don't really know. I haven't seen any of the others but I'll be happy if Modern Family takes the win. Side note: I fucking hate Sofia Vergara. I don't care how hot she is.
Best Actor (TV) (comedy)
I will never forgive Johnny Galecki for his dickishness on Entourage. I hope he loses.
Best Supporting Actress (TV)
If Jessica Lange (American Horror Story) doesn't win this, I will personally shoot everyone on the Golden Globe committee. If Sofia Vergara wins instead of her, I will then proceed to shoot myself. Jessica Lange plays her role on AHS flawlessly. That's all I can say. Perfectly cast, perfectly played, just perfect.
Best Supporting Actor (TV)
I love the character of Tyrion Lannister/the imp in Game of Thrones. The actor who plays him gets a nomination. I don't know if I like him because the character (from the books) is awesome, or because the actor (from the show) does a great job. But I'm rooting for Peter Dinklage (what a horrible name for a dwarf) either way.
